Heat and Air Quality

  • Southern California - especially the Inland Empire - heats up quickly! The summer and fall temperatures in Fontana are no joke, but we take the health and safety of our student athletes very seriously. When the temperatures start to rise, we closely monitor the on-site temperature, humidity, and air quality to determine what outdoor activities are safe to perform. This may mean that practice times (and even competitions) may need to be adjusted to a cooler part of the day. Similar procedures are followed on days when the air quality becomes problematic. Please refer to FUSD's Heat Protocol and Air Quality Protocol below to review the ways in which we keep our student athletes safe on those hot Fontana days!
